BROOKLYN

BROOKLYN - The Musical – a powerful and inspiring musical fable

Book, music and lyrics by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson

Brooklyn The Musical is a story within a story. On the outside, there is a troupe of street performers who are sharing a story from their lives, creating a show that is both touching and inspiring, drawing the audience into a live theater experience to remember. It is a wondrous sidewalk fairy tale about a young girl searching for fame and the father she never knew. With just one clear voice to hear her, she lands in the city that bears her name, Brooklyn.

Lyricist Mark Schoenfeld, born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx projects, became a street performer when Barri McPherson, a friend from his past heard him singing on the street one day and she invited him to come live in her home. Together, the two wrote the beautiful music for Brooklyn, which premiered on Broadway in September 2004.

THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG

THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG – a funny, romantic musical

Book by Neil Simon
Lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager
Music by Marvin Hamlisch

America's premier funny man and the Tony Award-winning composer of A Chorus Line, Neil Simon collaborated on this hit musical, based upon celebrated composer Marvin Hamlisch and his relationship with an aspiring young female lyricist, Carole Bayer Sager. The wisecracking composer finds the offbeat lyricist a good match, but not initially a match made in heaven. The two undergo a series of trials and overcome a number of hurdles before finding true love by the final curtain.

They’re Playing Our Song is essentially a two-character show. Vernon and Sonia are the sole characters on stage; each character has a three person Greek chorus acting as their inner voices.
